REFLECTION OF SEMESTER 2 JOURNEY IN IAD II

This semester 2 has ended with a lot of ups and downs. It was such a great experience for me, I learnt a lot from all 3 lecturers. They helped me to improve my works, and keep an eye on the project I'm doing at that time. I lack a lot and they help me to improve it with tutorials and all. Our first project is called 'Made to Order', where we need to make a window or wall display for our Final Project which is the cafe made of shipping containers. As for project 2, we were told to make a perspective/section/tunnel book relief design from our cafe. I chose to make perspective relief model and chose the interior perspective for the model. We also did a site visit for the location of the cafe, where we went to a place called Sekeping Serendah. We stayed there for 2 days and 1 night, the day we arrived there, we were told by the seniors to do site measuring, it was a new and fun experience for me. On the next day, we were given the time to choose the site where we're going to place the cafe. In conclusion, I learnt a lot of things this semester, know my own mistakes, things I'm supposed to do and not, and more about interior architecture.

REFLECTION ON EXPLORE AND EXPRESS

For this project, we are needed to choose one material for the window display. We were given 6 choices of materials and each material are limited to 6-7 people. Rock is the material that I chose for the window display and under the category rock, I chose bricks as the material. The reason I chose this material and made this design for the window display is to show that wavy or curvy design can be made by using materials like bricks. With the help of cement as the glue to stick the bricks together, it could create a wavy design. I named the window display 'WAVRICK' which are the combination of wavy and bricks. The connection of wavy which is the curve in the display with the menu chosen is the flow when honey was poured to the Hobla Tea and Taan Pancake. And bricks are the materials used for the display itself. Not only as a display, but it also got a function where customers could sit above it.

REFLECTIVE ON UNDERSTANDING DEPTH IN DESIGN

For Project 2, we were told to make a relief design in a size of A3 with a thickness of 2 inches. We were given 3 types of relief model to choose, which are perspective, section, and tunnel book. And just like the first project, each type of the relied model are limited to a certain number of students. For this project, I chose to do a perspective that shows my interior of the cafe. Perspective is by definition a technique for representing 3-dimensional objects and depth relationships on a 2-dimensional surface.  By doing this project, I learnt about depth and layers. Adding a sense of depth to a design can make that design seem more realistic and increase visual interest. Building out the 3rd dimension pulls the viewer into the design and can help you set up entry points and control flow throughout your designMore depth gives more control over the hierarchy of your design elements as different elements are placed at different depths.

REFLECTION ON EXPRESSION OF SPACE

For the Final Project, we are needed to create a cafe from 2 shipping containers with limited space inside. By the space given, we need to create a space where employees can work well and customers could drink and eat the food given comfortably. For this certain project, I learnt a lot of things, such as the minimum riser and thread for stairs, and there must be a landing for stairs. And the minimum space where people be able to walk through. Also, the space that is needed for the preparation of the food and drinks. I was able to know all these things because of all the tutorials from my lecturer. I was thankful for the advice and guidance from my lecturer for this project. During the presentation day, I presented my works to a senior, and this senior gave me a lot of opinions, advice, and ideas I could do for my works. I'm thankful for all of those things as well, as I could know what's exactly my mistakes are, and I'm going to keep that in mind and keep on improving for the next semester!
